Github Repo Branch Cleanup

Evaluate which branches are still being used and/or relevant, and which are stale, unused, out-of-date, or otherwise no longer need to be in the project. As of time of writing, we are sitting just shy of 40 branches with quite a few of these no longer being necessary. Cleaning these deprecated branches will help keep the repository clean and less confusing for new developers.
