Description
This might be firmly in the "well, don't do that" category. But cartographic polygons with polygons with self intersections do work remarkably well:
Except when you zoom in close, some tiles - perhaps upsampled ones - seem to mysteriously be missing completely. This is even though "Exclude Tiles" is off on the raster overlay,
This is on Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles, in case it matters.

Research direction
No source files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by reproducing the self-intersecting cartographic polygon on Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles, checking tile visibility at different zoom levels with Exclude Tiles disabled; done should include a confirmed cause and verification that the affected tiles no longer disappear.
