Comment editing by OP and the community

Comments lack an edit button to correct typo/figures or to fix mistakes.
If I want to precise a comment (whether it's mine or someone else's) I have to answer it, sometimes leading to long threads. I would rather have 1 or 2 medium/long detailed comments rather than 5/6 short comments.
I think an editing feature as Stackoverflow's one (anyone can edit others' comments) could enhance the clarity of the discussions.

No files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by locating the comment implementation and current author or moderation permissions, then clarify whether community edits are required and how edits should be reviewed or recorded. Done should include an agreed editing scope and behavior for both authors and other users.
