### Description
Hi CachyOS team,
I'm reaching out to report a performance issue I've been experiencing since updating to the recent NVIDIA 595 drivers.
The Issue:
Whenever I launch applications (like Firefox, Discord, Konsole) or start games, my system lags severely for a few seconds.
The mouse stutters and teleports.,
The KDE interface freezes briefly.,
Windows take time to appear.,
Games completely freeze on startup (though I can still switch back to the desktop to close them).,
Once the app or game has finished launching, everything returns to normal until I open a new one.
System Info:
OS: CachyOS,
DE: KDE Plasma (Wayland),
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080,
NVIDIA Driver: 595.45.04 (upgraded from 590.48.01),
Display: 2560x1440 @ 165 Hz,
Logs & Suspected Cause:
During these freezes, I regularly get this output in journalctl:
kwin_wayland: Libinput: event processing lagging behind, your system is too slow
I checked my pacman.log, and there were no KDE or Wayland updates when the issue started. The only relevant packages that were updated are the NVIDIA ones, jumping from the 590 to the 595 series. Here is the exact snippet:
[2026-03-14T17:05:33+0100] [ALPM] upgraded linux-cachyos-nvidia-open (6.19.6-2 -> 6.19.7-1)
[2026-03-14T17:05:33+0100] [ALPM] upgraded nvidia-settings (590.48.01-2 -> 595.45.04-1)
[2026-03-14T17:05:33+0100] [ALPM] upgraded opencl-nvidia (590.48.01-6 -> 595.45.04-2)
Troubleshooting already done:
Disabled all Plasma extensions and reverted to the default Breeze theme.,
Restarted KWin (kwin_wayland --replace).,
Reduced refresh rate from 165Hz to 120Hz.,
Reinstalled nvidia-utils / linux-cachyos-nvidia-open and ran sudo mkinitcpio -P.,
None of these steps resolved the problem. It seems heavily tied to the 595 driver update since everything worked perfectly on the 590 drivers.
However, when i try to rollback with BTRFS assistant my system enter in emergency mod. I dont have this issue when i try via limine
Thanks for your work !
### Steps to Reproduce
1: Start CachyOS with KDE Plasma on Wayland and NVIDIA 595 driver installed.
2: Open any standard application (e.g., Firefox, Discord, Konsole).
3: Observe the system freeze for a few seconds:
- Mouse stutters or jumps.
- KDE interface freezes temporarily.
- Windows take longer to appear.
4: Close the application.
5: Repeat step 2 with a game (e.g., any Steam game).
6: Observe the game freezing on startup, while still being able to switch to the desktop.
### Expected Behavior
Applications (Firefox, Discord, Konsole, etc.) and games launch smoothly without any lag or stuttering.
KDE Plasma interface remains responsive while opening applications or games.
Mouse movement is smooth and continuous.
Windows and application/game interfaces appear instantly.
