Series Catalog Does Not Update Properly

I noticed that when you change a method or a variables the series catalog does not automatically update. It will update properly if you go into the Series Catalog page and click the Update button after making your method/variable edit.

If you change a Source, those changes are never incorporated into the series catalog, even if you manually click the Update button on Series Catalog page.

Before I try to go about fixing this, I was wondering if there is a reason for these issues? I don't want to modify the series catalog database without fully understanding it. Thanks!

Start by tracing the Series Catalog update flow and the edit paths for methods, variables, and sources. Reproduce each reported case, determine how the catalog is intended to reflect those changes, and verify that both manual and automatic updates produce consistent catalog data.
