Would like a plugin to show/select the map scale

Similar to ArcMap where you can hit a drop down and choose a predefined scale such as 1:24000 and have the map zoom in to that scale. Likewise if you zoom in or out manually, then the scale should update accordingly for example to a specific scale not
in the list such as 1:12425
