Description
To become the hub for Canadians to engage with government spending data, we must consolidate data from all levels of government so they can view all of the data in the same place in the same format.
This issue is to get the core spending data of Vaughan onto the Canada Spends website.
We need to scrape:
- municipal budget data
- city council expenses
- Ensure the Sankey diagram works as expected

Research direction
Start by locating the existing data-scraping entry points and the Sankey diagram implementation in the CanadaSpends website. Identify the source formats for Vaughan’s municipal budget and city council expense data, then confirm that both datasets appear in the expected format and that the Sankey diagram renders them correctly.
