Seems like a big challenge without a secure element but I think it's sorely needed given how easy it is to build flash one with an evil firmware that's sending the ping over the local wifi.

The combination of the mobile device and the Jade could display something unique and memorable after pairing that someone stealing the device could not ever replicate.
