Description

**File:** Middle-Earth_Strategy_Battle_Game.gstz

**BattleScribe version:** 2.03.25

**Platform:** Android

**Dropbox:** No

**Description:** If both the Lothlorien and The Misty Mountains catalogues are selected as allied forces for the strategy battle game, then no selection options are visible within the "Determine Alliance Level" tab. If a third catalogue is also selected, then an alliance level selection becomes visible within all three forces' alliance level tabs as normal. However, when determining which alliance level option to show in this situation, the program seems to ignore the "convenient allies" alliance level present between Lothlorien and The Misty Mountains and considers only the two alliances between the third choice and Lothlorien and between the third choice and The Misty Mountains when working out which alliance level is the lowest and therefore should be shown. This matters for The Fellowship, as both Lothlorien and The Misty Mountains are historical allies with The Fellowship, and when all three are selected together they are provided the option to be historical allies, despite this not being correct due to the convenient alliance between Lothlorien and The Misty Mountains. Regardless of which catalogue was chosen and which alliance level option was visible, if this third catalogue is later deleted from the list, then both the Lothlorien and Misty Mountains alliance level tabs lose the previously visible selection option if it was unchecked, but retain it if it had been checked while the third catalogue was still present.
If this were fixed, a "convenient allies" selection would be visible when selecting Lothlorien and The Misty Mountains together, and this alliance level would be considered when working out the correct level for an alliance of three or more forces including those two.

Research direction

Start with Middle-Earth_Strategy_Battle_Game.gstz and reproduce the alliance selections in BattleScribe 2.03.25 on Android using Lothlorien, The Misty Mountains, and a third catalogue. Compare the visible alliance levels when forces are added or removed; done means the convenient-allies level appears for the two-force case and is included when determining the lowest level for three or more forces.
