Function app settings and @microsoft.keyvault not working

Description
It looks like Application settings that are set as a Key Vault reference (@Microsoft.KeyVault) is not available for the included function app. Changing a connection string to a reference results in a connection error.
Is this something on the roadmap or am I missing something?
Also is it possible to have the same current resolution status results in the application setting pane as App Service and Azure Functions have?
