[Bug Report] Not clear .NET 8 support status

The official documenation still claims .NET 6 is the version used for testing. Since the .NET 6 support ended recently it would be nice to update the docs and give us clear information if .NET 8 (or even .NET 9?) is supported.

Find the official documentation that says .NET 6 is used for testing, then check the repository guidance for the supported or tested .NET versions. Update the documentation to clearly state the status of .NET 8 and, if addressed by the project, .NET 9. Done means the support and testing information is current and unambiguous.
