## Epic Overview

**Business Value**: Enable environment-aware infrastructure and application deployments by adding type awareness (dev, test, prod) and structured configuration management. This allows teams to enforce best practices, implement environment-specific variations, and support proper governance across deployment stages.

**Current Problems**:

- Environments lack type awareness
- No way to drive infrastructure variations based on environment type
- No support for layered configuration files
- Cannot enforce environment-specific naming conventions or tagging policies
- No environment-specific overrides or configuration management
