Running a query with a query id does not produce output

When I run a query with
az boards query --id "DCF82656-1213-499D-9395-758E9729A454" --organization "https://dev.azure.com/JackFruit" --project "Jack" --output json

the output does not come to screen.
I tried Powershell and cmd.

When I added --debug, I can see the response/results of the query coming back in
azext_devops.devops_sdk.client: Response content:

but then no output in the screen to be captured and used.
