Description

Dear all,

At approximately midnight (UTC) on Thursday 3 July 2025, the GitHub repository for the Terraform virtual network resource module was accidentally deleted by an automated system.

[Azure/avm-res-network-virtualnetwork/azurerm | Terraform Registry](https://registry.terraform.io/modules/Azure/avm-res-network-virtualnetwork/azurerm/latest)

In the hours following this issue the team has been working to rectify the issue. At approximately 0900 UTC the same day, the module was restored and made available in the registry.

**The module is now available in the registry, though there are still some issues with version 0.9.1. Customers using this version who are experiencing issues are encouraged to upgrade to 0.9.2, which is identical to 0.9.1.**

We sincerely apologize for the interruption to your deployments. The root cause was a new feature in an automation workflow that was still in review. Unfortunately, there were side-effects that the team did not foresee, which caused the repository to be deleted by the production workflow when it ran on a schedule.

We will now reflect on what happened and undertake a detailed examination of the situation, before planning any required changes to both the automation and the processes that govern it. We will provide more information about our work items and improvements when we have it.
