Copy Activity can't handle empty json arrays

in azure data factory dataset, using the copy activity to load json blob to sqldb, when the json blob is an empty array "[]" the copy activity gets stuck with error. I saw there was an similar issue opened last year. What is the status? What are the recommendations to get around this, such as is it possible to skip the file?
