Description

What

It would be beneficial to create a modal walkthrough which will guide customers through the process of restoring their Business or eCommerce site from Jetpack Backup when they repurchase a plan after their site has been downgraded due to expiration.

Why

Determining how to restore a site is a common pain point for Business/eCommerce customers whose plans have expired. Customers need to purchase the proper plan, activate their hosting configuration for the site, then they must wait for 10-15 minutes for the Jetpack connection to establish before they can access the Jetpack Backup feature.

After Jetpack Backup is ready, they must determine which date they should restore the site to, and restoring to a date after the plan was downgraded could temporarily break the site.

Providing modal walkthrough will make it more seamless for Business/eCommerce customers to return after their plan has expired.

How

A series of modals can guide customers through the process of where to click (and wait) to initiate the restore process. Or, even better if the entire restore process could be automated with one button when the customer repurchases a plan.

Research direction

The issue names no files, tests, or entry points. First clarify the restore flow and product scope with maintainers; done would be an agreed modal walkthrough or one-button restore for expired Business/eCommerce customers, including the waiting period and safe restore-date behavior.
