Description

A blind user described the difficulty they have opening a note using a screen reader.

>I use a screen reading software package called “JAWS.” That stands for “Job Access with Speech.

>While I can find any notes I put into Simplenote easily enough, getting the note open seems unusually difficult.

>Whether the accessibility part is turned on or not, it’s a struggle to get the note open.,

>What I’ve found is that if I tap the letter B (for buttons) to jump to each identified button on the screen, the only way I can open the note is to use a ghost curser known as the “JAWS Curser” to get to the text of the note, then route the PC curser to the Jaws curser.

Research direction

No source file, test, or entry point is identified. Begin by reproducing note opening in the Windows 10 desktop app with JAWS, then trace the note-list and note-opening controls. Done means a screen-reader user can open a note without the JAWS Cursor workaround.
