Notifications unresponsive both Locked and Unlocked

We've gotten reports of difficulties with Pocket Casts' responsiveness on the lock screen since Android 12's release:

Start by reproducing the notification and lock-screen playback-control failures reported on Android 12 Pixel devices, including the delayed or incorrect playback behavior described for versions 7.19.1 and 7.19.2. Trace the notification playback entry point and compare behavior with the working version; done means pause, play, and related controls respond reliably while locked or unlocked and show the correct episode.
