Fonts don't render at all macOS Mojave

I am beyond confused & I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. No matter what I've tried, I cannot get fonts to render in Node Canvas. It doesn't matter what font I use, none will render. It always produces the default font in the image. The same code works on Ubuntu & another friend's Mac. I have installed the dependencies that Canvas requires, several times, to no avail. Not to mention, the friend who I asked to see if he could reproduce the issue was able to simply install via NPM & not even bother with additional dependencies. For some reason, I'm not able to produce the fonts on my Mac. I'm running macOS Mojave version 10.4.5. The friend I asked to try to reproduce the issue is on macOS Catalina beta, but he reported he was able to produce fonts just fine on Mojave, before he upgraded. I am completely out of ideas here. I recently reset my Mac too, so this is about as a clean slate as you can get. I really hope someone can point me in the right direction, because this module would be perfect if I could get the fonts to render. I'm using Canvas 2.5.0.
