Description

Jetpack sites and Atomic sites have the option to set the video default privacy using a toggle on the VideoPress library or the `Jetpack > Settings > Performance` page.

On the VideoPress library:

On the Jetpack Settings page:

However, there is no way to set this value on Simple Sites because they use the VideoPress library, don't show the `Jetpack > Settings` menu and the `Settings > Performance` menu does not have anything related to videos.

Can we add this default privacy toggle to the Simple Sites as well?

Research direction

Start at the Simple Sites VideoPress library and compare its settings flow with the existing Jetpack > Settings > Performance and VideoPress library privacy toggles. Trace where the default privacy value is read and saved; done means Simple Sites exposes the toggle and applies the selected default consistently.
