> “Switch account” unexpectedly logged me out. Also, I was expecting to see the login dialog after clicking that button, instead, “Connect using WordPress.com” button appeared.

Research direction

The issue names the Connect In Place “Switch account” button and the “Connect using WordPress.com” step; begin by tracing that flow and comparing it with Calypso’s “Switch user” behavior. Done means warning the user before logout and taking them directly to login without the extra connection click.
