Description

I recently became aware of this Well-Known URI, currently in use on some Automattic properties.

I was wondering if it may make sense to slowly move away from this definition, and instead use `.well-known/host-meta`, which was offered as a new standard here:

- https://webconcepts.info/specs/IETF/RFC/6415
- https://wordpress.org/plugins/host-meta/

Research direction

Start by reading RFC 6415 and compare its .well-known/host-meta definition with the URI currently used on Automattic properties. Determine whether this repository contains the relevant definition and what a deprecation or migration would need to cover before proposing a concrete change.
