macOS App: Add Applications Missing Apps and Settings Checkboxes Not Working

**Describe the bug**

I’m experiencing a couple of issues with the Harper macOS app.

First, when I open Add Applications, the application list appears to be incomplete. It only shows one application, and does not show applications such as Firefox, Notion, or other applications installed on my Mac.

Second, some of the checkboxes in Harper’s settings do not appear to work. In particular:

Keep Harper in the menu bar does not appear to toggle properly.
Enable new apps automatically also does not appear to work.

The issues seem separate, but both appear to involve Harper not correctly detecting or responding to macOS application/settings state.

**To Reproduce**

Missing applications:
Open the Harper macOS app.
Open Add Applications.
View the list of available applications.
Notice that only one application is listed.
Applications such as Firefox and Notion, which are installed on the Mac, do not appear.

Settings checkboxes:
Open Harper.
Open Settings.
Find the Keep Harper in the menu bar option.
Try enabling or disabling the checkbox.
Notice that the checkbox does not appear to respond or the setting does not take effect.

The same behavior occurs with Enable new apps automatically.

**Expected behavior**

For Add Applications, I would expect Harper to detect and display the applications installed on my Mac that it supports, including Firefox and Notion.

For the settings checkboxes, I would expect clicking a checkbox to immediately toggle the setting and for the selected setting to persist and take effect.

The Mac has Firefox, Notion, and other applications installed, but they are not appearing in the Add Applications list.

I’m not sure whether the application detection issue is related to macOS permissions, application discovery, or Harper itself, but the fact that multiple installed applications are missing makes me suspect Harper may not be correctly detecting installed applications.

The settings checkbox issue also seems reproducible independently of the missing applications issue.

Start by reproducing both reports in the macOS app: inspect Add Applications with Firefox and Notion installed, then test both named settings checkboxes. The issue names no source files or tests, so trace application discovery and settings handling from those UI entry points.
