Installer stuck in loop "Please re-insert your SD card"

To reproduce, first format an empty SD card and label it anything but "boot" (e.g. the Mac default of "NO NAME" is fine).
Then run an installation on MacOS and select to burn to this card.
At the end, the installer asks to "Please re-insert your SD card" even though the card has been automatically re-mounted by MacOS. Unmounting and reinserting the card does not work.

The workaround is to label the sd card "boot" before starting the installer.

Reproduce the MacOS installation with an empty SD card whose label is not "boot", then locate the installer entry point that burns to the card and checks for reinsertion. Compare its handling of the automatically re-mounted card with the documented workaround. Done means a normally re-mounted card is accepted without repeatedly asking for reinsertion.
