Genericons is an old project, built for a simpler time. It still exists here for back compatibility, and is open to PRs.

However you might want to consider [Genericons Neue](https://github.com/Automattic/genericons-neue), a refreshed and modernized version of Genericons. It's visually more coherent, it's much slimmer with only the most necessary icons, and it's built using `npm`.

Or if you need logos or icons for your favorite social network, [Social Logos](https://github.com/Automattic/social-logos), which probably has the one you need, and is open to suggestions.

**Genericons Neue** and **Social Logos** are where the bulk of energy will be spent going forward.
