Description

This request is referred to export of IfcReinforingBar but is also applicable for other categories as well.

IFC export of rebar sets from Revit in different IFC viewer doesn`t give the best user friendly visualization of the rebar layout/system without using classification or "viewfilters" in the IFC viewer. IFC export from Revit today gives IFCobjects with the same material the same IFC model color, Native IFC will give the user that isolate the IfcReinforcingBar a monocolor wireframe view of the rebars that don`t give the user a good visualization of the rebar system. It's hard to see the different rebar sets/groups.
It should be a possibility to override the default IFC model colors for Revit instances based on different parameter. F.ex. Rebar classification or position number.

Research direction

Start by reviewing the Revit IFC export path for IfcReinforcingBar and other categorized instances, then reproduce the current single-color result using rebar sets in an IFC viewer. Define which Revit parameter should control the exported model color and verify that the selected parameter produces distinct, usable colors for the relevant IFC objects.
