Description

**Describe the bug**
When changing a maya mesh to usd mesh, the piece loses the material link and becomes a glossy black material (when it used to alredy be a usd before hand)

**Steps to reproduce**
import a USD scene via create>Universal Scene Description (USD) > Stage from File...
right click on a usd mesh click "duplicate as maya mesh"
right click on the now duplicated maya mesh and do "duplicate as USD"

**Expected behavior**
The mesh is well shown in the outliner inside the USD shell and it should (used to at least) keep it's assigned material

**Specs (if applicable):**
- Windows 11
- Maya 2026.1, 2026.2 (used to work but not as I reinstalled it) and 2026.3.2,

**Additional context**
It used to work until about a week ago when maya automatically went from Maya 2026.2 to 2026.3 on all our machines, and now it doesn't work at all anymore
