Description

At the moment we are committed to producing bias corrected CORDEX data on the AGCD grid (inner box in image below). That's a 0.05 x 0.05 degree grid of 691 latitudes (112.00 to 156.25 East) and 886 longitudes (10.0 to 44.5 South), for a total of 612,226 grid points.

The entire CORDEX domain spans approximately (each RCM is slightly different) 89.5 to 182.0 East and 8.5 North to 52.0 South (outer box in image below). That's an enormous 1211 lat x 1851 lon = 2,241,561 grid points at 0.05 degree resolution, so if there was interest in bias corrected data for the full CORDEX domain in future we would probably provide that at the BARRA-R2 spatial resolution of 0.11 degrees, which is a more manageable 550 lat x 841 lon = 462,550 grid points over the CORDEX domain.

Research direction

No source files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by determining how the current AGCD-grid CORDEX data release is produced, then assess the proposed full-CORDEX BARRA-R2 option and its grid sizes. Done would require a decided scope and an agreed implementation plan for the expanded release.
