🐛 Bug Report: App is sometimes black when closing and re-opening

This is hard to replicate, but I encounter it quite often.

When closing the app, then doing something else for a while, then re-opening, it stays black sometimes.
Closing the app completely and then re-opening it fixes it, I'm not entirely sure if normal close and re-open fixes it as well (I'll test that next time I encounter the bug and add it to this issue).

### 👟 To Reproduce

1. Close app (only go to home screen, don't completely kill the process)
2. do something else for a while
3. open app again
4. app stays black

### 👍 Expected behavior

App should display the page where you left off

Start by reproducing the Android lifecycle steps: send the app to the home screen, wait, and reopen it without killing the process. Investigate the black-screen case and verify that reopening reliably restores the page shown before the app was backgrounded.
