Google maps load problem

I searched and found several problems with google tiles in the past and found to be a google problem. I installed latest and greatest version of mission planner on windows 8.1 and google maps within mission planner will zoom to about 5 miles high then will not get any more detail. I did a clean install windows 7 on that same machine (thinking it was a windows 8.1 problem) and the same problem occurred.

Love the application for pixhawk. Bing works fine but maps are old.

No source files, tests, or entry points are named. Start by reproducing the Google Maps zoom limit on the reported Windows versions and compare it with Bing; done means Google maps provides additional detail beyond roughly five miles altitude without regressing the working Bing view.
