Connecting the Mission planner to the X-Plane

I am connecting the Mission planner to the X-Plane according to the instructions https://github.com/ArduPilot/ardupilot_wiki/blob/master/dev/source/docs/sitl-with-xplane.rst but when connected, the aircraft's steering wheel turns sharply to the left until it stops. The value of Aileron in MissionPlanner is minimal. The remote is not connected. Nothing changes when changing flight modes in MissionPlaner

Start with the SITL-with-X-Plane instructions linked in the issue and reproduce the connection in Mission Planner. Trace the steering and Aileron behavior while checking the selected flight mode and remote-control state. Done means the aircraft no longer turns sharply left on connection and the relevant controls respond as expected.
