Description
To resolve an issue with gunpowder, the code was duplicated with some changes. This lost git history that is intact in Connor's Gunpowder branch. We should build from Connor's branch, delete the duplicate code from this repo, and eventually try to make a version of this code that can make the original repo work.

Research direction
Compare this repository with Connor's Gunpowder branch first, identifying which duplicated code and history should be retained. Then determine the repository changes needed to remove the duplicate code and restore compatibility with the original repository; completion is unclear because the issue does not define the target layout or compatibility criteria.
