AdAway searching for source updates frequently and causing VPN to disconnect and reconnect

### Current Behavior

The VPN will stop while it's checking for source updates. The app is allowed to run in the background but the VPN sometimes won't reconnect unless I tap into the app. This behaviour happens even if I have the "periodically check for update" option turned off under Host Updates section in the Automatic Updates menu. Sometimes the VPN reconnects by itself, sometimes it doesn't. I'm left with no adblocking if it doesn't reconnect and I don't notice until ads start appearing.

### Expected Behavior

It should not be disconnecting all the time and it shouldn't be constantly checking for updates. This issue only started a couple of weeks ago and I'm not sure why.

### Steps To Reproduce

There aren't any. I didn't do anything to change the app and the last update to AdAway was 2 months ago.

- AdAway version: 6.1.0
- Ad-blocker mode: VPN
- Device: Xiaomi 11T
- Android version: 13
- Root version: n/a

20 June 2023 - Just wanting to update this thread with what I've noticed since I made this bug report. I've turned off both check for update options (check at start and periodically check for updates) and the problem seems to have gotten worse. AdAway is now checking for updates anywhere from every hour to every 10-15 minutes. It's made this adblocker practically unusable to the point I'm considering uninstalling it.
