1. The site could use [picsum.photos](https://picsum.photos) (formerly "unsplash.it").
You can get a random photo using `/{width}` or `/{width}/{height}`. They also provide [a list of available photos](https://picsum.photos/images).
4. The Unsplash API actually [encourages hotlinking](https://unsplash.com/documentation#hotlinking), using results from the API.
